Thomas Paul

Tom is pursuing a PhD in Entomology at The Ohio State University, where he is studying factors affecting introductions of non-native ambrosia beetles, which can arrive via international trade routes in infested wood packaging materials. Previously, Tom studied drivers of interannual fluctuations in presence and associated economic damage of the redbanded stink bug, a non-native soybean pest, at Mississippi State University. Tom’s first research experience in entomology was during his time as an undergraduate student, working for a summer with the U.S. Forest Service on the destructive, non-native emerald ash borer. Outside of research, Tom plays his fair share of videogames, hikes, and enjoys playing his cello and ukulele.
