Shane Moran

Shane graduated from Saint Vincent College in 2022 with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Theology.  There, his undergraduate research project focusing on how environmental conditions and prey population size affects the predatory behavior of different species of spiders sparked his interest in finding ways to manage invasive or pest insects without damaging local ecosystems.  When Dr. Shaohui Wu contacted him and proposed a project to use a biological toxin to control pecan pests and avoid the off-target effects of common pesticides, Shane was quick to enroll in the program at OSU.  Between classes and research, Shane can often be found admiring local insects and birds in the campus' many green spaces.
