Following graduation, she worked as the entomology intern at Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust, contributing to pollinator population studies by identifying and pinning field specimens for future research and education. She then worked full-time for the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, rearing Ganaspis kimorum, a parasitic wasp used in the biological control of the invasive spotted wing drosophila. These experiences with invertebrate ecology and pollinator conservation led her to Dr. Kayla Perry’s lab, where she is currently working on the Bombus affinis conservation project co-PI'ed by Dr. Jamie Strange. Mia hopes to continue research centered on endangered invertebrates and the ecological impacts of habitat disturbance.
