Frederico Hickmann

Fred holds a Ph.D. in entomology from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Before this, he completed a B.S. in agronomic engineering at the Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil, followed by an M.S. in entomology at the University of Sao Paulo. Throughout his graduate career, Hickmann has focused on advancing our understanding of pest dynamics of stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae). His research has covered various topics, including insect behavior patterns, host suitability, chromosome composition, and overwintering strategies. Ultimately integrating basic biological and evolutionary research to solve applied research problems. Hickmann has mentored several undergraduate student researchers during his Ph.D. He currently works as a post-doctoral research associate at Michel Lab. The current position focuses on studying the ecology and genetics of Lepidopteran pests found in corn and alfalfa to enhance our knowledge of these pests.
