Afsoon Sabet

Afsoon's first experience at conducting research was at West Virginia University, where she worked with Dr. Rita Rio and the tsetse fly. During this experience, she was introduced to the concept of One Health, the complexity of the vector-borne diseases, and medical entomology. From there, she proceeded to attend Mississippi State University where she got her master’s degree in Entomology under Drs. Jerome Goddard and Samuel F. Ward. While at Mississippi State, she honed her interests in public health and entomology, as well as insect ecology. For her master’s work, she studied the bed bug and its capacity as a vector of disease. At OSU, she hopes to further develop her skills and interests while studying tick dynamics and ecology.
