Entomology welcomed benefactors from United Titanium Inc., on August 31st, 2021, for the official ribbon-cutting of the United Titanium Bug Zoo (UTBZ), located at the heart of the CFAES Wooster campus in the new Wooster Science Building.
Michael and Stephanie Reardon, long-time philanthropists and owners of the local titanium manufacturing company, and Pat Simpson expressed their excitement at being a part of this unique educational space on the CFAES Wooster Campus. All three visitors enjoyed the live arthropod presentations given by UTBZ curator, Jeni Filbrun. Filbrun has run Entomology’s Bug Zoo in Wooster for nearly 7 years, transforming it from the small conference room hidden in old Thorne Hall into the vibrant center piece of the Wooster Campus.
Also joining in the small ceremony were Andy Michel, Entomology Associate Chair, Anne Dorrance, CFAES Associate Dean & Director of the Wooster Campus, Keith DiDonato, CFAES Chief Advancement Officer, and Pablo Villa, CFAES Director of Development. The Reardons were presented with a framed photo of the architect's rendering of the Wooster Science Building, and a personal note of thank you from CFAES Dean Cathan Kress.
