Graduate Students Stand Out at the 2025 American Mosquito Control Association Conference

The Department of Entomology would like to congratulate Paola Nicole Feliciano and Hannah Dehus for their outstanding achievements at the 2025 American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA) Annual Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico!

Paola, a first year graduate student in the Pete Piermarini Mosquito Lab was awarded First Place for Best Student Poster Presentation for her research on "Characterization of the Intrinsic Insecticidal Activities of Geraniol Against the Yellow Fever Mosquito, Aedes aegypti”.Paola Feliciano won first place for her poster on mosquito research in Dr. Piermarini's lab

Hannah, a veteran of the Megan Meuti Insect Physiology Lab and soon to be defending her Environmental Studies Graduate Program Master's thesis, was also recognized as a participant in the highly competitive AMCA Young Professionals Industry Shadowing Program, an incredible opportunity to gain firsthand experience in mosquito control industry leadership. Hannah presented a talk at the conference entitled “Are efforts to conserve urban bees increasing risk of mosquito-borne disease?”.
