Dr. Meuti & Dr. Ward receive Spring 2024 IDI Interdisciplinary Research Seed Grants

Congratulations to the Infectious Disease Institute’s Spring 2024 Interdisciplinary Research Seed Grant Awardees! 

Congratulations to Dr. Megan Meuti, associate professor, Department of Entomology, College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES); Dr. Ken Oestreich, associate professor, Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity, College of Medicine (CoM); and Dr. Risa Pesapane, assistant professor, Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM); School of Environment and Natural Resources (CFAES). Each received an IDI Spring 2024 Interdisciplinary Research Seed Grant award for their projects as follows:
 
Dr. Megan Meuti, PI, Department of Entomology and co-investigator, Dr. Joshua Blakeslee, Department of Horticulture and Crop Science (CFAES), will collaborate on “Testing pharmacological techniques to interfere with mosquito reproduction.”
 
Dr. Ken Oestreich, PI, and co-investigator, Dr. Patrick Collins, Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity (CoM), will collaborate on “Aiolos-dependent regulation of CD8+ T cell memory programming during influenza virus infection.”

Dr. Risa Pesapane, PI, and co-investigators, Dr. Samuel Ward, Department of Entomology (CFAES), and Dr. William Peterman, School of Environment and Natural Resources (CFAES), will collaborate on “Elucidating dispersal mechanisms of Gulf Coast ticks in the United States using population genetics.”
