We Grow Scientists

Entomology and the BUGmobile will join CFAES to host COSI’s annual We Grow Scientists event on April 30 (3-7 p.m.) at the Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory in Columbus.Entomology members at the 2024 We Grow Scientists event

This afternoon of hands-on learning and activities will showcase the many STEAM fields CFAES has to offer and will include a look at the Waterman facilities such as the Controlled Environment Agriculture Research Complex (CEARC). “We Grow Scientists” is a free event open to learners of all ages looking to learn more about STEAM in their community as part of the COSI Science Festival (April 30 - May 3, 2025).

Big Science Celebration at COSI

Celebrate Science with the Ohio State Department of Entomology! 

On May 3, 2025, 11am - 5pm, Explore over 100 exhibitor stations, including our own BUGmobile, filled with hands-on science activities hosted by STEAM professionals, researchers, and experts from Central Ohio and beyond. This exciting, free event takes place on the Scioto Peninsula, surrounding COSI, and happens on the last day of the COSI Science Festival. Live performances and food trucks will also be on hand. Don't miss out on the ultimate celebration of science and discovery!

The Big Science Celebration is located outside on the property and streets surrounding COSI at 333 West Broad St. Columbus, OH 43215.

Insect Night Walk

Join us for the annual Insect Night Walk July 25, 2025 from 8-10pm!

This free, public event is organized by EGSA and Entomology staff, and is held annually in mid-summer. We will once again host the Insect Night Walk at the Wooster Science Building (go.osu.edu/WoosterScienceBuildingMap), 1600 Wilson Road on the Ohio State CFAES Wooster Campus.

This popular event showcases the hidden nightlife of insects; witnessing the beauty and diversity of night-flying insects, from glittering fireflies and singing crickets to huge, colorful moths and iridescent beetles. 

Join us to pet a bee, dig insect fossils, create unique insect art, learn how insects sense the world, and won prizes!
