Our research programs encompass both basic and applied endeavors focusing on three areas: 1) chemical and behavioral characterization of plant- and arthropod-derived semiochemicals mediating insect/mite behavior, 2) mediation of aboveground insect-plant interactions by soil food webs and mineral nutrition, and 3) roles of sexual selection, mate recognition, and reproductive isolation in the evolution of insect sex pheromones.
